About Rachel
From the U.S. to Barcelona
Rachel began her career as a stand-up comic in the 1990s. Yes, really.
Living in Austin, New York and Los Angeles, she was fortunate enough to perform alongside comics such as Dave Chappelle, Zach Galafianakis, Louis C.K., Duncan Trussell and Sarah Silverman, among many other talented artists.
When she moved to Barcelona 2004 she started to perform in Spanish, doing stand-up comedy and cabaret shows throughout Spain. Some of these shows were Cómo ser feliz todo el tiempo ("How to Be Happy All the Time"), Planeta Catalunya, and Coñólogos, and Sueños americanos (American Dreams).
Rachel has done standup in Spanish on Paramount Comedy as well as TV in the U.S., and had small roles in a few films.
She is also the creator and host of Anti-Karaoke, the karaoke rock party famous throughout Spain and other parts of Europe, still going strong in Barcelona (and occasionally in Madrid).
Rachel speaks Spanish, English, and Catalan. She is in the process of creating 3 different full-length comedy shows, one in each language. For her, each language inspires different themes and has its own audience.
She has just debuted her first full-length standup show in Catalan, Catalunya Triomfant and will soon launch her new Spanish standup hour.
During the pandemic, when all the theaters closed, Rachel became an online English teacher. Teaching English to kids and adults from all over the world was one of the most interesting and rewarding experiences of her life. She still does it because she loves connecting with people from all different cultures, helping them and learning about their world.
Rachel practices Goenka Vipassana meditation 2 hours every day, which has greatly changed her life for the better. She recommends this practice for nearly everyone.
